Each year 8 UNC Asheville students and recent graduates work on various projects central to the mission of the Center for Diversity Education. For 2015-16 the positions include:
Compensation for all positions is $10 an hour with hours ranging from 5-10 hours a week.
Positions can also be counted toward acedemic internship classes and credits.
Equity and Inclusion Educators
Our Equity and Inclusion Educators work with on campus organizations to host out interactive and experiential workshop on Structural and systemic oppresion using Archie Bunkers Neighborhod. The Educators also coordinate on campus events and film screenings and build strategic relaitonships with campus organizations.
The Equity and Inclusion Interns work as a coordinated pair spending the majority of their hours working together.
compensation: $10 an hour working 10 hours per week.
Peace and Holocaust Educator
The Peace Studies Educator works on out programs focused on holocaust and genocide education. The Peace Studies Educator works to help coordinate exhibit receptions and events from the Kennesaw State University genocide exhibits. They coordinate our Holocaust Day of Rememberance, Yom Ha Shoa on campus in the spring.
Compensation: $10 an hour working 10 hours a week.
Queer Youth Outreach Educator
The Queer Youth Outreach Educator was formed in collaboration with Youth Outright, the local Asheville based non-profit whoes puporse is to create a safe, educational and empowering space for LGBT youth in WNC. The Queer Youth Outreach Eduactor works on special project and curriculum for Youth Outright and is currently developing HIV/AIDS education curriculum for the program.
Compenspation: $10 an hour at 10 hours a week.
Disability and Diversity Educator
The Disability as Diversity Educator was created out of a collaboration with the Office of Acedemic Accessability. This position is responsible with aiding in the implementaion and development of Disability as diversity education for on campus organizations and clubs.
compensation: $10 an hour at 5 hours a week.
Global Education and Exhibits cooridnator
The Global Education and Exhibits Coordinator works to manage our education exhibits and artifacts used in our K-12 programing. They also manage our diversity exhibits, being used and rented by our community partners.
compensation: $10 an hour at 10 hours a week.
Visual Media Coordinator
The Visual Media coordinator is responsible for the creation of video and photographic media for the Center. Projects include editing video interviews with local holocaust survivors, into short videos that can be used by K-12 holocaust educators as part of their Holocaust curriculum.
Conmpensation: $10 an hour at 5 hours a week.
