Christa Mullis is a 4th year International Studies major with minors in Asian Studies and Mass Communication. As someone with a rich, neurodiverse family she has been involved in the disability community for most of her life. In 2015 she received the Autistic Self Advocacy Network’s, “Autism Campus Inclusion” leadership scholarship to study community organizing and activism in disability advocacy at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. Afterwards she was inspired to come back to her campus and create system changes for students with disabilities, including establishing the newly formed Disability Cultural Center at UNCA. She has a particular interest in the intersection of disability studies and Asian culture, hoping to continue her studies in this area after graduation. In her free time she enjoys writing, cooking, filming and editing videos, and playing with her roommate’s kitten.
